Responsibilities

 

 

 

 

Facilitates Raising A Reader parent trainings at apartment communities and other community locations. Creates an interactive and engaging learning environment for all families.  Adheres to all learning objectives within each training module.  Presents and explains the RAR book bags and assists families in fostering an at home reading routine.  Brings in quest speakers, provides information about other programs the agency has to offer as well as makes connections to services within the community that will enhance the parenting skills of all families through the “Resource of the Week” component of the program.  Maintains all necessary reports associated with the position. Responsible for identifying locations for delivery of the program, establishing new partnerships and recruitment of participants for the program. Has knowledge of  agency programs as well as requirements for enrollment and eligibility.  Assists Program Manager in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating  program services, policies and procedures.  Meets all performance standards as outlined in each contract. Works under general direction, according to agency mission, philosophy, Core Values, Codes of Ethics, and goals.

 

 

Training responsibilities:

  • Conduct 3 to 7 trainings per quarter

 

  • Model the reading process reflective of RAR modules

  • Actively engage parents and children to create a safe and nurturing environment
  • Create original ideas directly related to the curriculum

 

  • Assist in recruitment of families for all trainings including those of contracted trainers

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field with expertise related to literacy development in young children 0-5.  Excellent written and oral communication skills. Organizational and interpersonal skills required.

Strong computer skills are required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher). Classroom experience preferred but not required.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification in infant/toddler First Aid and CPR.
  • Functional knowledge of AIDS/STD’s and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Child Protective Services reporting mandates
